Kathmandu, July 25 : Although the government talk team was ready for getting the medical education bill amended as per the demands of agitating Dr Govinda KC, the agreement eluded on Wednesday too, for the KC’s side came up with new stand of complementary bill.
The talk team of Dr KC made a demand for complementary bill through fast track by not omitting the issues incorporated in the ordinance.
However, the government side was flexible for hearing different demands including the one that no new medical colleges would be allowed in Kathmandu Valley for ten years.
Government talk team coordinator and Secretary at Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Khagaraj Baral, said they could not reach the agreement after the new demand posed by Dr KC’s talk team.
On Tuesday, the talks had taken positive direction after the consultation meeting with the senior political leaders including the Prime Minister.
The government has kept on the door open for the dialogue with flexibility to reach agreement on Dr KC’s demands in view of the reports of Kedar Bhakta Mathema and Gauri Bahadur Karki.
Moreover, Prime Minister’s press advisor Dr Kundan Aryal said, “It is sheer disrespect to the parliamentary process and practice to demand the withdrawal of the medical education bill or the new bill through fast track by incorporating all demands of Dr KC’s side.”
It was learnt that an advocate close to Bibeksheel Sajha Party, who was also the member of talk team from Dr KC’s side, created new dispute, while the government talk team reminded that decision could be taken after studying well on which places were in need of medical colleges and how many.
Government talk team coordinator has again called for dialogue in view of the sensitivity of agitating Dr Govinda KC. It is the 15th fast-unto-death Dr KC is waging for 26 days.
Meanwhile, both sides have expressed worry over the failure of the talk. (RSS)
