Nepal flood toll hits 32; 17 missing

Kathmandu, July 13:
The floods and landslides across the country have killed 32 people so far while 17 people have gone missing. As many as 831 flood and landslide affected people have been rescued from different places, according to Ramesh Thapa, Superintendant of Police at Nepal Police Headquarters.   
At least 12 people were injured in the natural disaster. Floods and landslides have killed five in Lalitpur and three each in Kathmandu, Khotang, Kavrepalanchowk, Bhojpur and Makawanpur districts. Likewise, the disaster has left two each dead in Dhading and Sindhuli districts and one each in Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, Ilam, Jhapa, Sunsari, Bara and Chitwan, Thapa said.   
Among the rescued are 500 in Mahottari, 200 in Rauttahat, 70 in Sindhuli, 42 in Kathmandu, 10 in Udayapur, three in Lalitpur and two in Siraha, on each in Khotang, and one each in Bhaktapur, Makwanpur and Sunsari districts. Among the injured are four in Makawanpur, two in Kavre and one each in Khotang, Ramechhap, Dhaidng, Dolakha, Sunsari and Chitwan. Those missing are four in Sindhuli, two in Bhojpur, one each in Kathmadnu, Panchthar, Jhapa, Udayapur, Morang, Sunsari, Dhading, Makawanpur and Lalitpur, Thapa further said.   
Security personnel have been mobilized to intensify rescue and search for the missing in the flood and landslide affected areas. According to the Home Ministry, the task of clearing debris of flood and landslide from roads in different areas is underway. The Ministry has made the rescue and relief operations effective in the disaster-hit areas. (RSS)
