Kathmandu, July 23 : Doctors, medical persons and student organizations leaders have stated that the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC have been politicized.
Speaking at an interaction organized by All Nepal Free Students Union (ANFSU) and All Nepal Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) (ANISU-Revolutionary) on ‘Condition, challenges and remedies of Medical Education in Nepal’, here in the capital today, speakers pointed out the politicization of the call for reforms in the medical education sector made by Dr KC.
National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ganesh Man Gurung said that the issues raised by KC should be resolved soon as the issues were over politicized.
Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine Dean Prof Dr Jagdish Agrawal also said that the issues should be addressed soon to end the discomforts caused by the protest.
Similarly, Nepal Nursing Council chair Tara Pokharel said that the medical education bill was incomplete and urged all to include matters concerning the nurses in the bill.
National Doctors Association chair Dr Santosh Poudel said that the Mathema Commission’s report could not be implemented at any cost adding that the medical sector should be profit-free.
Nepal Medical Council spokesperson Dr Krishna Adhikari said if the present condition continues, the patients will not get treatment.
Also speaking at the same programme ANNFSU and ANFISU (Revolutionary) chairs Navina Lama and Ranjeet Tamang opined for nationalizing the private medical colleges to address Dr KC’s demands. (RSS)
