Los Angeles, April 30: A lawsuit has been filed against Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council (NCC) of USA at a Tennessee court to disqualify an election commissioner and suspend the upcoming 2019 election, officials said on Tuesday.
Rabina Thapa and Narayan Thapa moved the court on April 26, but NRNA’s incumbent General Secretary Babu Ram Lama shared the lawsuit document with NRNA members only this morning. The plaintiffs, Thapa duo, have pleaded the court to disqualify Chairman of the Election Commission Biswa Baral and stop the 2019 election that is scheduled to be held on May 18-21.They have also asked the court “to reopen registration for membership in advance of the postponed 2019 NRN-USA election.”
According to a notice of the Chancery Court for Knox County of Tennessee State, the plaintiffs have made NRNA NCC of USA, Election Commission of NRNA NCC of USA, Bandita Sharma Dahal, Biswa Baral, Bhuwan Gurung, Anjan Shrestha, Keshab Paudel, and Gauri Joshi the defendants in the case. The lawsuit has blamed that the Election Commission has acted fraudulently and manipulated the voters’ list by “taking the server offline for several days prior to the cutoff for membership application submissions.”
