Los Angeles, November 7:
Nepali immigrant Harry Bhandari has made history by becoming the first Nepali to be elected to the state legislative body. He won the general election of the House of Delegates for Maryland State’s 8th District in the polls held on Tuesday.
Harry bagged the second position in a tightly contested race of six candidates for the three House of Delegate positions. Three candidates who garner the highest number of votes are elected to represent the eighth House district.
According to the latest update, Harry has garnered 20,977 votes.
Nepali immigrants across the United States have congratulated Harry on his success through social media.
