Los Angeles, January 25: US President Donald J. Trump and Democratic lawmakers have reached a deal to temporarily reopen the Federal Government until February 15, President Trump announced on Friday.
The President made this announcement from the Rose Garden of the White House at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time. “I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government,” the President said.
The congressional leaders from both the parties will continue negotiations on Trump’s demand for money to build concrete wall on Southern border. With this deal, the Congress will pass a bill to fund the government departments for three weeks.
The issue of $5.7 billion for the US-Mexico border wall will be negotiated by the Democratic and Republican lawmakers in the coming weeks. This deal has put Democrats at a winning position because Speaker Nancy Pelosi had insisted that there would be no negotiation without reopening the Federal Government.
Senate leaders were under pressure after two opposing bills failed to pass yesterday and the major airports across the country reported delays due to the government shutdown.
