Kathmandu, July 12: Floods and landslides caused by torrential downpour since Thursday night have taken the lives of at least 17 people in Nepal, authorities said on Friday.
Nepal Police officials said six people are still missing, while hundreds of thousands have been displaced from their inundated homes.
Pictures of inundated roads, homes, and neighborhoods have been viral on social media as the monsoon rains gave wreaked havoc, especially in Kathmandu Valley and the southern plains. Rescue workers haven’t been able to reach remote areas due to the damaged roads and airports.
Meanwhile, Nonresident Nepali Association National Coordination Council (NRN NCC) of USA, in a statement today, urged NRNs to extend their helping hands in collecting and distributing relief to the flood victims.
